Around Hotel
Tiantai Yunjie International Hotel lies within Xiuwu town so guests can walk around the surrounding area on foot. Xiuwu, although not a big tourist draw in itself, generally has side streets that are worth wandering for a flavor of life in a smaller-sized Chinese city. A reasonable stroll of 10-15 minutes will usually bring you stride Henan regional restaurants, mom-and-pop corner marts hawking all the essentials and maybe some local markets. This makes for a short but quite an interesting walk to pick up a local flavor away from heavy tourist throngs.
Small parks or public squares are not far in the town itself, providing fine places for a short break or to watch local activities. The walkability of such an authentic local environment is not for big attractions. Most of the streets are safe enough for walking in the day. This will facilitate a new perspective of China that tourists usually miss staying only in major metropolitans or directly at scenic spots.
Please note that the main regional attraction, Yuntai Mountain Geopark, is not walking distance from the hotel. The hotel’s walkable vicinity therefore only serves a provisioning function, local dining experiences, and the perceptibility of the town. If guests wish to do any serious sightseeing other than the immediate neighborhood, they will be recommended to use taxis or local buses to the hotel as a convenient base for these excursions.
